Second Victim in Grantville Stabbings Dead

Two men were stabbed in front of a shopping center, one died at the hospital Saturday morning

Police added a second murder charge to a suspect accused of fatally stabbing a man in a Grantville parking lot earlier this month.

The deadly stabbings took place just after noon in the 10400 block of Friars Rd. on June 2. One victim died that day. The second victim died a week later, the police department announced Wednesday.

Officers arrived on June 2 to find a large fight and two men suffering from stab wounds at the scene. The suspect involved in the stabbing had already fled in a small green or teal sedan, according to police.

Investigators said an argument broke out in front of a restaurant where a birthday party was being held inside. It is still unclear what, exactly, the argument was about.

The two injured men were transported to the hospital.

One man, 25-year-old Christopher Manzon, sustained more severe injuries from the stabbing and died at the hospital at 8:22 a.m. Saturday morning, authorities said.

The second victim, 23-year-old Ador Laus, sought additional treatment for his wounds in the early morning hours of June 9. He died at the hospital at about 2:45 that morning.

Police arrested 24-year-old suspect Jim Duc Nguyen after they located him at a relative’s home in Del Cerro.

Nguyen was booked into San Diego County jail for the alleged murder of Manzon. On Wednesday, police announced they added a second murder charge to the suspect.
