A second case of Tuberculosis was reported in San Diego Wednesday.
San Diego County health officials said a student at San Ysidro Middle School was identified with the disease and may have exposed students and staff.
The period of exposure in the area was from July 31 through Nov. 28 of this year.
Health authorities also said Wednesday that a student at Vista High School was diagnosed with the disease.
The health agency says in a press release Wednesday that it is working with the Vista Unified School District to notify those who were potentially exposed between Aug. 20 and Oct. 30.
Free testing is planned at the school on Dec. 18.
County health officer Dr. Wilma Wooten says TB usually requires many hours of close, indoor contact to spread to others, so most people who are exposed in classrooms do not develop the disease.

“Tuberculosis is reported more often in the San Diego region compared to the rest of the country, but the number of cases has decreased here over the last decade,” said Eric McDonald, M.D., M.P.H., county deputy public health officer.
There have been 213 cases reported in San Diego in 2012 and 263 cases last year.
