Search Launched for Missing Marine

Military officials are asking runners and hikers to stay alert on local trails

A search has been launched for a Marine stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar who was last seen Wednesday morning.

Cpl. James S. Jessen, 22, was declared missing from his barracks at 9 a.m. according to a military news release.

Jessen is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a thin muscular build, brown eyes, brown hair and a high-military haircut.

Because Jensen is an avid runner, NCIS is asking runners and hikers to stay alert on local trails.

MCAS Miramar's Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the San Diego Police Department are currently investigating his disappearance and encourage anyone who may have any information about Jessen to call NCIS at 858-577-4355, Criminal Investigations Division at 858-577-4060 or the SDPD at either 619-531-2000 or 858-484-3154.
