Special Report: Schools on the Brink

Weeklong series to investigate SD schools’ insolvency

There’s no doubt about it, San Diego Unified School District is in trouble.

With the school’s budget deficit growing, and the implications of this shortfall widening, it’s about time for school officials, parents, teachers and taxpayers to all sit down and have a serious conversation about how to fix these problems.

With the help of our media partners VoiceofSanDiego.org this week, NBC 7 San Diego will look into what exactly happened, and what’s ahead for the City of San Diego as it tries to deal with school insolvency.

San Diego Explained will break up the issue into five parts every night at 6 p.m. on NBC 7.
