School Cops Pursue Burglar, Find Pot

Three recent school burglaries plagued San Marcos Unified School District

After losing more than 50 items over a short period of time, the San Marcos Unified School District enlisted its own officers for help finding the burglar.

The items included computers, a DJ board and gaming systems, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The district's officers investigated the string of burglaries, developing information on where the property might be. They wrote search warrants on that address and searched the house.

Inside, they found the stolen items -- in addition to seven indoor marijuana plants and 450 grams of packaged marijuana. They also found two weapons, one of which was an illegal sawed-off double barrel shotgun.

Five residents were living in the house. They were taken into custody for charges including posession of stolen property.
