After last year's epic fail, locals surrounding San Diego Bay got all that they hoped for with a fireworks display to remember.
"We have fireworks!" Port of San Diego announced via Twitter just after 9 p.m. as bright colors lighted up the sky over the Embarcadero Thursday.
Auggie Santore, the man who shouldered the blame for San Diego's busted Big Bay Boom Fireworks Display of 2012, could not contain his excitement.
There were tense moments before it started, but as soon as he realized the fireworks display went off without a hitch Santore screamed, "And the crowd goes wild!"
Santore's company picked up the $125,000 tab for this year's display after thousands of fireworks went off in 15 seconds within minutes before the show was supposed to begin last year.
He said he never doubted his teams ability to put on the show, but knew there was the extra pressure given what happened last year.
