A U.S. military veteran who served in two wars turns 100 this week in San Diego.
Theo Logan enlisted in 1942 and retired 20 years later as a major in the U.S. Army.
He was stationed in Germany, Italy and Korea.
He said he saw a lot and was grateful to be one of the boys to make it back home alive.
But he’s quick to point out, he’s no hero. He was just a man doing his job.
“My part was so small, that I can't see the big picture in that manner, but I think we all did our part as best as we could under the circumstances,” Logan said.
Among those circumstances was a segregated army.

“Once we were integrated, I think it makes the service, much, much stronger, than let me say, the individual was,” he said.
When Logan returned home to the U.S., his dedication to helping people wasn’t over.
He became involved in the San Diego Parks and Recreation Department and helped to develop the Southeastern Economics Development Corporation.
He also started a successful real estate business with the focus on helping African-American and Hispanic residents in Southeast San Diego become homeowners.
Seeing people buy their first home is something he will always remember.
“It makes you feel like you are doing something worthwhile, when you do that,” Logan said.
Logan’s children said he still reads two newspapers every day.
They will celebrate his 100th birthday on Sunday with family members and more than 100 guests.
