Airport Relocates Cell Phone Waiting Lot

The San Diego International Airport has expanded their cell phone waiting lot to include 47 additional spaces

The San Diego International Airport announced Wednesday that their popular “cell phone waiting lot” has been expanded and relocated.

The cell phone waiting lot – a complimentary area where drivers can park for free for up to 60 minutes while they wait for a call from their loved ones arriving at the San Diego International Airport – has been relocated to just east of the Commuter Terminal on Harbor Drive.

The lot is now accessible via a traffic light at Rent-a-Car Access Road, according to the airport’s public relations office.

With the move comes more short-term parking spaces for drivers.

The expanded cell phone waiting lot now features 47 additional parking spaces, bringing the total number of spaces to 97. The lot is open 24-hours a day.

The San Diego International Airport also said that as the cell phone waiting lot is relocated, SAN Park Harbor Drive will also be relocating its spaces to the north to allow for remediation of the existing parking lot.

Starting Thursday at 7 a.m., the interim parking lot located behind the existing SAN Park Harbor Drive lot will be open to airport customers. The new lot will utilize the same entrance/exit at Harbor Drive and Rent-a-Car Access Road.

Travelers should keep in mind that the area is an active construction site and adhere to the official walkways when walking to and from the interim parking lot to the terminals.
