East Village to Get 2 New Restaurants

Stella Public House and Halcyon, described as “sister restaurant” concepts by Austin-based investment group Zebo, will be among the next arrivals in the already buzzing culinary scene of downtown San Diego’s East Village.

Operators describe Halcyon as a modern coffeehouse and cocktail lounge, with Stella Public House serving items including wood-fired pizza and on-tap craft beer. The establishments will open in tandem in mid-November, at 1429 Island Ave.

At Del Mar Highlands Town Center in Carmel Valley, Nekter Juice Bar of Costa Mesa plans to open its fifth local juice and smoothie location in November. That center recently saw the opening of Mathnasium: The Math Learning Center, a Los Angeles-based company offering personalized tutorial services at its 10th local site.

Among new local retailers is Rack Room Shoes, a 90-year-old Charlotte-based company that recently opened its first local store at Outlets at the Border in San Ysidro, selling footwear for men, women and children.
