San Diego City Council Approves Renaming Road ‘Mark Hamill Drive'

You most likely know him as Luke Skywalker from the Stars Wars franchise.

But soon, some San Diegans will know Mark Hamill to be the inspiration behind a certain street name in Clairemont.

San Diego City Council approved a portion of Castleton Drive, between Mount Abernathy Avenue and Clayford Street, to be named "Mark Hamill Drive."

Hamill lived on Castleton Drive for a few years, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

"We are hopeful we can continue to work with Mr. Hamill, to install, dedicate, and unveil Mark Hamill Drive at a later date at the corner of Castleton Drive and Mount Abernathy Avenue,” stated Councilmember Chris Cate.

Hamill attended Hale Junior High School in Clairemont, according to IMDB.

He is most known for his iconic role as Skywalker, which shot him to fame.
