The San Diego Blood Bank celebrated the grand opening of a new donor center in Carmel Valley on Friday.

The new blood donor center is located at 3880 Valley Centre Dr., in the Piazza Carmel Shopping Center, right behind the food court.

According to Lynn Stedd of the San Diego Blood Bank, hours of operation at the center are Friday through Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments are encouraged and can be made here.

Stedd told NBC 7 the San Diego Blood Bank is very excited for their new center in Carmel Valley.

She says a total of 17 donors came out to give blood during Friday’s grand opening celebration.

Given the accessibility of the new location, Stedd says she expects the center will quickly become successful and popular among blood donors.
