Sailors “Spicing” Up Their Lives With Fake Pot

The synthetic marijuana is called spice

It's been banned from sale at local smoke shops--the so called "fake" marijuana known as "spice."

The San Diego Naval Medical Center released statistics on the number of sailors admitted for use of the synthetic drug.

The Balboa Park hospital says it treated 15 service members for Spice between August and December 2010.

Across the Navy, 192 sailors have been held accountable for use or possession of Spice in the past five months. Side effects include hallucinations, paranoia and confusion that can become debilitating.
