Carlsbad Man in Standoff with SWAT

Carlsbad street is shut off for SWAT team preparations

Carlsbad police and a SWAT team are in a standoff with a 22-year-old man after he refused to surrender to officers serving an arrest Tuesday morning.

Police arrived on the 2900 block of Austin Terrace at 9:15 a.m. and prepared to arrest the man on suspicion of felony larceny, Lt. Kelly Cain said. A SWAT team came to assist just before 10 a.m.

The suspect's relatives left the house, but the man was refusing to come out, Cainsaid.

The street was closed off earlier today as the SWAT team made preparations to serve the warrant.
There is a 3-mile flight restriction over the house and helicopters are not allowed to fly above the area.

No injuries, evacuations or lockdowns have been reported and arrests have not been made.
