Just after 10 p.m. on Thursday, the man veered off near 8th St. in his red Ford SUV Explore, police said.
The vehicle slid down the hill near 8th St., where it ended up crashing into some trees.
The San Diego Police Department used a helicopter to find the man involved in the accident.
Once found, he was soon hoisted up to safety by rescue crews.
The man was then taken to UCSD Hospital.
It is still unclear whether or not drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
