Shelia Jackson, who was often a dissenting voice on the previous school board, was chosen as president by the newly elected board by a 3-2 vote.
The woman in charge of the San Diego Unified school board, Shelia Jackson, is taking steps to run for county supervisor, according to a published report.
Jackson filed papers with the County Registrar's Office to run for the seat currently held by Ron Roberts in 2010, according to voiceofsandiego.org. The online website reports that San Diego City Councilmember Donna Frye may also be interested in running for the job.
If Jackson does run for the Board of Supervisors, that would leave her current job open along with two other school board seats in the same election. The move would not doubt leave the school board's future "up in the air," according to voiceofsandiego.org's education reporter Emily Alpert.
