SD Schools Go Back to Drawing Board

Tuesday meeting will address the school's finances

The San Diego Unified School District will meet again Tuesday to pan out budget cuts approved in January.

One of the items of discussion scheduled at the meeting is a resolution that would call on the state legislature to change layoff dates for teachers in the district.

State budget cuts gave the district a March 15 layoff deadline for many teachers.

Board members will also discuss ways to self-assess their and their teachers' performances. Earlier this month, the members picked three ways to improve in these areas.

Tuesday afternoon, the group, Up For Ed, will hold a press conference and rally to request all parties involved in the budget discussions to negotiate the "best deal for students' education."
