Rotary Clubs Launch Toy Drive at Fair

Donations can be dropped off between June 3 and July 4

The 8th annual Care ‘n Share Toy Drive will launch at the San Diego County Fair this Friday.

The project collects and distributes new and gently used stuffed animals for sick and homeless children in the region.

"By holding our toy drive during the early summer we are able to offer toys to those in need outside of the holiday season. The concept of sharing with someone less fortunate is a lesson that can be taught throughout the year," says Nancy Stoke, Care 'n Share Project Chair and Torrey Pines Rotarian.

Recipient organizations include Rady Children’s Hospital, the Armed Services YMCA, Assistance League North Coast, Home Start and Children’s Lifeline among others.

The summer toy drive has distributed more than 35,000 stuffed animals since its creation in 2009.

Through strategic partnerships and collection sites the Rotary Clubs of San Diego and Imperial County hope to collect even more toys this year.

In addition to its original collection sites at the San Diego County Fair, other collection site locations include 57 public libraries, six San Diego Blood Bank locations and a growing list of local businesses.

Donations can be dropped off between June 3 and July 4.
