California Highway Patrol officials issued a Sig-Alert Friday night following a freeway rollover crash near the Mission Valley area.
Authorities said the single-vehicle collision happened around 7:30 p.m. on southbound State Route 163 at Interstate 8.
A car lost control, struck the median under the I-8 overpass and rolled over on the freeway, blocking the number one and two lanes and bringing traffic to a standstill for nearly two hours.
When police arrived at the scene, a female driver was trapped inside the vehicle. Rescue workers extricated the woman from the car and transported her to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
CHP provided traffic control. Officials said SR-163 would remain closed for clean-up and investigation until about 8:45 p.m.
Southbound traffic is being diverted onto I-8.
