Rita’s GP LLC, the San Diego-based area franchise developer for Rita’s Italian Ice, has reached an agreement with ballpark operators to begin selling the company’s ices and custards at Petco Park starting in late August.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Rita’s GP officials said Rita’s Italian Ice will service several express units at the ballpark and offer Custard Cookie Sandwiches and four flavors of the ice treats by the cup or in a souvenir San Diego Padres helmet cup.

On Sundays, the company will have a Rita’s on Wheels, serving from the Park at the Park near the video board.

Officials said the company will employ eight to 10 workers for each Padres home game, and has hired more than 100 workers to date for seven San Diego County Rita’s stores currently open. The local franchise developer began operations earlier this year and plans to open a total of more than 30 San Diego County stores over the next few years.

Rita’s GP LLC, based in Old Town, is among the largest franchise developers for Pennsylvania-based Rita’s Franchise Co., founded 30 years ago. Rita’s Italian Ice has more than 600 stores in the U.S., with more planned in the domestic and international markets.
