Remains of Person Found in Riverbed Near Qualcomm Are Male: ME

The skeletal remains recovered from a riverbed near Qualcomm Stadium earlier this month are male, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's office.

Two people walking along the San Diego River in Mission Valley, looking for invasive plant life, reported the human skeletal remains on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The hikers called police to report the body, but police were unable to find the remains on that Saturday before dusk.

The following Sunday, authorities returned to the scene to continue searching. The body was found shortly after 11 a.m. on Oct. 2.

The remains were turned over to the Medical Examiner.

The ME's office has not identified the body, but has determined the body was that of a man.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.

No other information was immediately available.
