A pedestrian struck by a truck while crossing a street in Rancho Bernardo Monday night died at the hospital, police confirmed.
The woman was crossing Bernardo Heights Parkway near Calle Pueblito around 6 p.m. when she was hit by a Toyota Tundra.
San Diego Police Department officers investigating the crash said the victim was crossing outside of the crosswalk. They also said the driver of the truck was not speeding.
The driver stayed at the scene with the pedestrian and is cooperating in the investigation, SDPD said.
Groceries were seen scattered across the street near the crash site. Police say the woman was likely coming from a nearby grocery store.
A man who lives nearby said the crossing es extremely dangerous and wasn't surprised by Monday's tragedy.
"They can be blindsided by cars coming up the hill, they can be blindsided by cars coming down the hill," he said. "There are a lot of trees and visibility is limited."

Alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the crash.
The speed limit on Bernardo Heights Parkway is 45 mph.
