San Diego Central Jail Escapee Captured

The escapee was spotted Tuesday morning near the intersection of Park Boulevard and Tony Gwynn Drive

Officers have arrested a man who was on the loose for hours after escaping while being transferred into the San Diego Central Jail.

Angelo Paschall, 21, was spotted Tuesday morning near the intersection of Park Boulevard and Tony Gwynn Drive.

According to San Diego Police, officers with the La Mesa Police Department were booking Paschall into the jail around 3:20 p.m. at 1173 Front Street.

During the process, Paschall ran out of the building -- hands cuffed behind them -- when another officer opened the jail's bay door.

He was being booked into jail on suspicion of strongarm robbery.

Police searched the area from the ground and via helicopter.

When he was found, Paschall did not have handcuffs according to officials.

He will face additional charges of escaping custody of an officer upon being charged with a felony.
