Issa: Obama Going to “Liberal La-La Land”

President Barack Obama is expected to include in his State of the Union speech tonight calls for increasing taxes on the wealthy, making community college free for many students and expanding paid leave for workers.

The proposals stand little chance of winning approval from the new Republican majority on Capitol Hill.

“Basically he’s going to ‘liberal la-la land’ because he just missed what the voters said,” said U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-49th District).

Issa said the message from voters was that they want the nation to go back to basics and live within our means.

“None of which is he going to propose tonight,” Issa said.

Meanwhile, Obama's chief of staff, Dennis McDonough made the early morning network newscasts explaining that the president is determined to improve the lives of middle-class Americans.

He told "CBS This Morning" that Obama will not hesitate to veto legislation that doesn't improve the lot of the middle class.

Watch the president deliver the State of the Union at 6 p.m. on NBC 7.
