Two teenagers have been identified as suspects in a crash that involved three cars and a bus and shut down a main route Wednesday in Chula Vista.
Two drivers, ages 17 and 18, are under investigation for street racing following the crash at 3 p.m. on at East H Street at Paseo Del Rey, just east of Interstate 805, Chula Vista Police (CVPD) said.
Witnesses on scene told police two cars may have been street racing when one of them struck a third car not traveling at the same speeds.
The force of the impact sent the third, slower car over a center median and into eastbound lanes.
One of the vehicles believed to be racing slammed into a Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) bus that was picking up passengers, police said.
"These two cars were racing and they tried to stop because the bus was coming out from picking up the people, and when they tried to stop, they couldn’t stop, because they were going fast," said MTS bus passenger Edwin Gutirres.
Three people were rushed to area hospitals. One was a bus passenger with minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the slow-moving car suffered serious injuries that aren't considered to be life-threatening, officials said.
One of the drivers accused of causing the crash suffered minor injuries.
"This whole street is pretty busy, they could’ve gotten someone killed--even the people from the bus, or themselves," said Gutirres.
All westbound traffic at the crash site was closed as the investigation continues.
The two teenagers were not arrested. An investigation is ongoing, CVPD said.
MTS said the westbound Route 709 was on a detour and missing stops from E H Street and Paseo Del Rey to H Street and Hilltop.
