Possible Mountain Lion Sightings Reported in San Marcos

Sightings were reported in in the 1500 block of Glencrest Drive, 1700 block of Melrose Drive, and 2200 block of Silverado Street in San Elijo Hills on Sunday.

Sheriff's officials report that they received a call about possible mountain lion sightings in San Marcos' San Elijo Hills area on Sunday morning.

Deputies at the San Marcos Sheriff's Station report that they received a call just after 9 a.m. from witnesses who reported seeing a mountain lion in the 1500 block of Glencrest Drive, 1700 block of Melrose Drive, and 2200 block of Silverado Street in San Elijo Hills.

Sheriff's officials dispatched the ASTREA helicopter to fly over the area in search of the mountain lion, but were unable to confirm any of the sightings.

Deputies notified the California Department of Fish and Game and its officers also did a check of the area, but they too were unable to find a mountain lion.

CDFG officials said they also received reports of mountain lion sightings over the weekend.
