A broken irrigation pipe caused a landslide that sent dirt and foliage pouring onto a San Diego freeway Saturday.

A large part of an embankment gave way at about 10.30 a.m. near Balboa Park and shut down at least one lane of the 163, the off ramp to eastbound Washington Street and the 10th and Robinson Ave. onramp to northbound 163.

The pipe broke in the parking lot of a shopping center, police said.

    No one was hurt.
