Police Search for Driver in ‘Intentional' Oceanside Hit-and-Run

Police say the driver tried to run down a pedestrian who later died from his injuries

Police need the public’s help finding the driver responsible for an intentional hit-and-run crash that left one man fatally injured in Oceanside.

On May 16 just before midnight, a person driving a Toyota Tacoma tried to run down pedestrian Victor Macias on Santa Barbara Street near Buena Street, police say.

According to investigators, the driver struck another vehicle on purpose and forced it to hit Macias, who was hiding behind it.

Macias fell back and hit his head on the ground. He died three days later from his injuries.

Oceanside Police say the suspect vehicle is a white 2007 to 2012 Toyota Tacoma with four doors or an extra cab, like the one pictured above.

The truck involved has a great deal of left side, front end damage, and it is missing the Toyota emblem from the front.

It is also missing the left, front fender flare, police say.

If you know anything about this truck, call the Oceanside Police Department’s Det. Rick Davis at 760-435-4906.
