Police Probe La Jolla Sex Assault

Two men who were befriended on the beach by a woman and her roommates are now in custody, according to police.

Investigators said the incident began on Tuesday night when the 22-year-old woman and her roommates were on the beach socializing and were joined by Bryan Silva, 20, and Xavzier Paschal, 21. Eventually, the roommates returned home, leaving Silva and Paschal at the beach.

A little after 4 a.m., one of the roommates awakened and saw Paschal in his room, he told police. The roommate said Paschal fled when he challenged him, and, as he was chasing Paschal, he saw Silva was also inside the house.

The roommate told detectives that after Silva and Paschal fled in a car, the 22-year-year-old woman said she had been sexually assaulted by Silva.

Investigators said they arrested both suspects on Wednesday. Silva and Paschal both face first-degree burglary charges, according to police, and Silva was also booked for sexual assault with a foreign object.

Both men are due in court on Friday.
