Ambulance.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a truck involved in a hit-and-run accident that severely injured a man trying to cross a North County road.

The 60-year-old pedestrian was struck by a white full-size pickup truck towing a black flatbed trailer on North Nutmeg Street in Escondido about 5:45 p.m. Friday, according to police.

The driver fled the scene.

The victim was hospitalized in "very serious" condition, Lt. Tom Albergo said.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Officer Michael Guerrero at (760) 839-4470.
