Police Investigate Man's Fatal Stabbing in Clairemont

The homicide unit was called to investigate, as early morning rains may have washed away evidence.

A man was stabbed to death in Clairemont early Monday with fatal trauma to his upper torso, according to San Diego Police (SDPD).

Police received reports at about 12:44 a.m. of a stabbing on the 5200 block of Channing Street in Clairemont, down the street from the sports field at Madison High School.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found Ronald Labastida, 31, with severe stab wounds, according to SDPD.

Officers attempted to administer CPR on Labastida and medics were requested. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died, said SDPD officers.

The homicide unit was called to investigate, and towed Labastida's vehicle as evidence related to the case. Investigators were searching for more information, as early morning rains may have washed away related evidence.
