A battle continues over the use of the Blackwater shooting range by Southwestern College police cadets.

The Blackwater battle continues and San Diego Congressman Bob Filner has promised to help the college find another place for its cadets.

Southwestern College wants to distance itself from the controversial military contractor, so college police cadets are looking to find another shooting range. In exchange for the facility, the school gives the military contractor, now referred to as "Xe" conference rooms to use.

Critics of the idea, don't want the college associated with the contractor because of its involvement in the shooting deaths of 17 Iraqis in 2007. The cadets used to train at the Miramar Sheriff facility but scheduling conflicts make it difficult.

"Do you want trained assassins, paramilitary lurking around the community of Chula Vista?" one of the protestors, Monte Johnson said.

San Diego Congressman Bob Filner was at a Wednesday night meeting about the issue and has promised to help the college find another place for its cadets. The college must give four months notice to "Xe" if it decides to use a different facility.
