When law enforcement officers closed the Coronado Bay Bridge for hours because of police activity, Coronado residents Izzie Regina and Almitra Desai spoke with NBC 7s Nicole Gonzales.

“We want to go home and we have to do the back way which will take me at least another half an hour,” said resident Almitra Desai.

Cars were diverted to Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach and north along Silver Strand to access Coronado.

The San Diego Police Department assisted with closures and traffic on the San Diego side of the bridge while the Coronado Police Department handled closures on the Coronado side.

The closures impacted traffic around the I-5 for more than four hours.
