Police Activity Shuts Down Coronado Bay Bridge

Police closed the bridge in both directions starting around 6:30 p.m.

Both directions of the Coronado Bay Bridge were closed down Wednesday evening due to police activity.

According to police, the closures began around 6:30 p.m.

β€œIt’s frustrating! I want to go home,” said Coronado resident Izzie Regina.

β€œWe want to go home and we have to do the back way which will take me at least another half an hour,” said resident Almitra Desai.

Cars were diverted to Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach and north along Silver Strand to access Coronado.

The San Diego Police Department assisted with closures and traffic on the San Diego side of the bridge while the Coronado Police Department handled closures on the Coronado side.

The closures impacted traffic around the I-5 for more than four hours.
