The six-month manhunt for the attacker accused of fatally shooting a Marine outside a nightclub led to an arrest over the weekend in Tijuana, Mexico.
Arturo Perez Medina, 22, was taken into custody after he was found hiding at a residence in Tijuana, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. Perez Medina, a U.S. citizen, was turned over to San Bernardino police Sunday and booked on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of Pfc. Douglas Rauda.
Rauda, 20, was shot and killed April 17 in the parking lot of Flesh Nightclub. Rauda, based at Twentynine Palms in San Bernardino County, was serving as the designated driver for a group of friends, according to police.
He was waiting for his friends in a car outside the nightclub when he was shot. Authorities have not provided details about a motive.
Investigators said there did not appear to be an altercation between Rauda and his assailants before the shooting.
Four suspects were identifed in connection with the shooting. Three men were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, but the search continued for the suspected gunman until the weekend arrest.
All four suspects were identified as gang members, according to police.

"We again thank our allied partner agencies who assisted in this investigation and hope in some way this brings some peace and closure to Pfc. Rauda’s friends and family, as well as to his Marine Corp family," San Bernardino police said in a statement.
