A woman in a motorized wheelchair died trying to cross the road Sunday evening in Jacumba.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the victim as 80-year-old Jimmie Dyampert Genet.

The accident happened just after 6:30 p.m. in the 44600 block of Old Highway 80, in front of the Wagon Wheel Trailer Park.

A white van struck and killed Genet. The driver immediately stopped and called 911, according to the ME.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both Cal Fire and the California Highway Patrol responded to the accident.
