Pedestrian Injured in Mira Mesa Hit and Run

    A pedestrian was hit by a car in Mira Mesa Friday evening, authorities said.

    The collision happened around 5:10 p.m. at Mira Mesa Boulevard and Greenford Drive.

    Medics were requested for one injured pedestrian, who was transported to Scripps La Jolla. The extent of the victim’s injuries is unknown.

    The driver who hit the pedestrian fled the scene.

    As police investigated the hit and run, traffic in the area slowed significantly. Police issued a SigAlert.

    At 6 p.m., officers said traffic in the area was expected to last for up to four hours.

    The cause of the felony hit and run collision is under investigation.
