70-Year-Old Woman Struck by Car

A 70-year-old female walking in Grant Hill on Sunday sustained injuries after being clipped by a vehicle.

The accident happened just before 12 p.m. at 30th Street and Imperial Avenue, authorities said.

Mark Taylor of the SDPD said a woman in was crossing the crosswalk when a vehicle traveling southbound made a right turn on Imperial Avenue.

Taylor said the driver did not see the pedestrian and hit her.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries to her head, ankle and foot. She was transported to the hospital.

Police said the driver -- who doesn't have a license -- remained at the scene.

According to Taylor neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash.

Police said surrounding streets would be closed for at least 30 minutes and are expected to re-open by 1 p.m.
