A suspected drunk driver hit and killed a man who was crossing the street in La Mesa just an hour into the New Year, according to police.

Dana Lohner, 48, of La Mesa was driving a Mustang sports car in the 9300 block of Murray Drive around 1 a.m. when she struck Kelly McPherson, 53, from Mission Valley, police said.

“Despite resuscitative efforts, he was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene,” the Medical Examiner’s Officer reported.

Lohner was arrested and booked into Las Colinas jail on suspicion of DUI.
