Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Freeway

Driver of one car arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on the SR-15 Tuesday night, authorities said.

Medics were requested for the pedestrian, who was hit after he began walking across the SR-94 in the Stockton area at about 8:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The pedestrian, later determined to be homeless, was pronounced dead on the scene. Officers arrested the driver who struck the pedestrian on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Several other vehicles were also involved in the accident. None of the drivers or passengers in those cars were injured.

The ramp from westbound SR-94 to the southbound SR-15 was closed following the accident. Caltrans assisted in closing the ramp.
