Pedestrian Hit, Killed by School Bus: CHP

A pedestrian hit by a school bus in front of Potter Junior High School in Fallbrook has died, authorities said.
The 38-year-old man from Escondido was crouched down in the street in the 1700 block of Reche Road around 5:45 a.m., according to CHP officials. He was drawing some kind of artwork on the ground.
The bus driver was just beginning to leave school to pick up some special needs students and didn't see the victim, who was wearing dark clothes, authorities said. The bus struck the man and sent the man flying into the driver's side of an oncoming car, according to one witness.
CPR was performed on the victim, but he died at the scene.
No students were onboard the bus at the time.
