Padres Spring Training: Get To Know Cory Spangenberg

Padres prospect makes a case for the Opening Day roster

Cory Spangenberg turns 24 years old on Monday (Happy Birthday, Cory!). The Padres infield prospect made his MLB debut at the end of the 2014 season and made an immediate impression.

Spangenberg, know for his line drive swing more than his power, hit .290 with two home runs and drove in nine runs in just 20 games.

He also showed the kind of utility Padres manager Bud Black likes, playing games at 2B, 3B and left field. NBC 7's Derek Togerson talked with Spangenberg about his power surge, trying to make a big league Opening Day roster, and doing something San Diego has not seen in almost a decade.
