Padres Down Rockies 3-1

The Padres made it two wins in a row after beating Colorado.

Maybe the month of May is the tonic the Padres needed. After a dismal April the Padres are playing .500 over their last six games.

Against the Rockies starter Jeff Suppan pitched five effective innings allowing only one run on four hits. The veteran also helped his own cause, laying down a perfect sacrifice bunt in the fifth inning advancing Jason Bartlett to second base. The very next batter, Will Venable, lined a double down the left field line. Bartlett came around to score the go ahead run. Venable also had a lead-off triple in the first inning.

Dale Thayer pitched the ninth inning to record his second save in as many nights.  The Padres won it 3-1 and go for the series sweep Wednesday afternoon at PETCO Park.
