Officers Surround San Marcos Home

Three people were arrested after law enforcement officers surrounded a home in San Marcos early Friday.

About a dozen Escondido police patrol cars and officials wearing narcotics shirts surrounded a home on La Moree Road located east of California State University San Marcos and south of State Route 78.

A man, who police say was armed with a gun, was arrested on a drug charge before a search warrant was served. Another man was arrested on drug possession charges and a woman was arrested on charges of child endangerment.

One resident said he heard loud noises around 4 a.m. and when he looked outside, he saw people searching the area outside a nearby home with flashlights.

Brad Pastore recalls hearing several explosions that he thought might be gunshots but now believes were percussion caps.

"When I looked out the window, it was lit up almost like daytime," he said. "There were lights coming into the bedroom window. And you could tell there was lots of police."

Those noises were followed by someone saying “search warrant” through a bull horn according to Pastore.

Escondido police say the SWAT operation ended with the three arrests and three children in protective custody.
