A Carlsbad police officer responding to a traffic accident Wednesday morning collided with a Carlsbad woman while en route, police said.

The collision occurred at about 8 a.m. at El Fuerte Street and Green Haven Drive.

The female officer, who was in a marked patrol car with activated emergency lights and sirens, was driving toward a separate accident on Avenida Encina involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The officer then collided with a 49-year-old woman’s Nissan adjacent to the Pacific Ridge School driveway, located at 6269 El Fuerte St., Carlsbad police said.

Both women were transported to Scripps Hospital. Their conditions have not been disclosed.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
