Fishing boats, sail boats, yachts and kayaks – all decked out in holiday cheer – will fill the Oceanside Harbor Saturday as the North County community rings in the season.
The Oceanside Yacht Club’s annual Parade of Lights will cruise the Oceanside Harbor from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., near the 300 block of Harbor Drive South. The event includes a festive procession of vessels covered in holiday lights and décor, visible from different areas along the shoreline.
Oceanside Adventures, a company that offers whale watching tours in the area, will host a 90-minute harbor cruise during the parade, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., so visitors can have a prime seat to the action on the harbor. Tickets to the harbor cruise cost $29 for adults and $19 for kids. To make your reservation, call (888) 507-1130.
Earlier in the day – from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. – free, 20-minute boat rides with Santa Claus will be offered at the Oceanside Harbor. A $3 donation to Friends of Oceanside Parks is suggested per adult for these mini boat rides; kids are free.
The event on the water is meant to get the community into the spirit of the holidays.
