Siblings ID'd in Oceanside Murder-Suicide

Officers in Oceanside found the bodies of siblings and a dog inside a residence, all with gunshot wounds

Police believe two bodies found in an Oceanside residence Monday afternoon were victims of a murder-suicide.

Oceanside police found the bodies in a house on the 300 block of Via Metates, according to a statement from the Oceanside Police Department.

The male has been identified as 56-year-old Robert Bradford, and the deceased female has been identified as his 52-year-old sister Shelly Bradford. Both resided at the Via Metates address.

A staff member from a nearby medical center called police to report Robert as potentially missing after he failed to show up to his scheduled doctor’s appointments.

Officers arrived and found the door to the residence unlocked. They immediately found Robert's and his sister's bodies in separate rooms, both with gunshot wounds. The dog was also found with gunshot wounds next to Robert.

A handgun was found in the room with Robert, police said.

The deaths come just one week after the bodies of a couple in their 60s were found in their Escondido home, and three months after a man killed his wife in an apparent murder-suicide in Oceanside.

There have been four murder-suicides between May and July of this year alone, leaving 13 San Diego residents dead.
