Woman Tied, Assaulted in Home Invasion Robbery

San Diego County Sheriff's investigators are looking for a man armed with a gun and four other people, who are responsible for a home invasion robbery in Vista on Monday.

It happened at about noon at a home on Carmel Circle.

Detectives said three men and two women in their 20's, used some kind of ruse to trick the female homeowner into opening her front door.

The group then forced their way into the home.

Once inside, investigators say the suspects assaulted the woman and tied her up before ransacking the home.

A short time later the victim was able to free herself and go to a neighbor's house to call 911.

But the suspects had already left before deputies arrived.

A nearby church and school were put in lockdown, as the sheriff's K-9 unit tried to pick up the suspects' trail.

Neighbors said the home has been targeted by thieves in the past.

They said the victim and her husband are in the jewelry business and about a year ago, somebody broke in and stole a large amount of jewelry.

It's unclear what was stolen from the home in Monday's robbery.

But the victim's son said his mother is staying away from the home because she's afraid for her life.  He also said she was physically okay.
