NewSchool of Architecture Chosen to Host Global One-Day Event

NewSchool of Architecture & Design’s event includes a series of design-driven, cross-disciplinary short lectures

NewSchool of Architecture & Design said it has been selected as the West Coast venue for World Information Architecture Day (WIAD) 2015, a global one-day event Feb. 21 that focuses on improving how digital technologies intersect with everyday life.

The event, taking place in more than 24 countries, enlists leaders in information architecture, user experience (UX) design and research, and interaction and visual design to resolve a real-life digital challenge in the respective host city, NewSchool said.

NewSchool of Architecture & Design’s event includes a series of design-driven, cross-disciplinary short lectures followed by open discussions that explore the subject of “Architecting Happiness” from three perspectives: design, architecture, and digital arts.

According to NewSchool, the event continues the institution’s practice of collaborating with design schools around the world to inspire students to approach architecture and design through the prism of the human experience, applying an innovative, fresh perspective on the subject of information architecture.

WIAD is led by the Information Architecture Institute, a nonprofit organization that helps local communities shape the global practice of information architecture.
