The man accused of shooting CBS 8 sports anchor Kyle Kraska in front of his home now faces two new charges.
On Monday, the San Diego County District Attorney's office charged Mike Montana, 54, with making a criminal threat and shooting at an inhabited vehicle, which has a special allegation that he personally used a firearm.
Montana previously pleaded not guilty to attempted first degree murder with allegations that the crime was premeditated and a gun was used.
The painter is suspected of opening fire as Kraska got into his car outside his Scripps Ranch home on Feb. 10. Kraska was hit six times and rushed to the hospital, where he spent the next four days in a medically induced coma.
After the shooting, law enforcement launched a countywide manhunt for Montana. His van was spotted in an El Cajon home's driveway, the suspect eventually surrendered after a SWAT standoff.
Prosecutors say Montana was doing work on Kraska's house and the two had some sort of financial dispute. Kraska returned to work last month.
Montana faces 38 years and four months in prison if he is convicted.
