Man Attacks Taco Shop Cook

The taco shop robbery suspect is believed to have also attacked and robbed two people walking the streets in the area early Wednesday

A Taco shop cook was shaken up after a customer attacked him at 3 a.m. Wednesday inside the Roberto's Taco Shop on the 1400 block of Highland Avenue in National City.

Police suspect the attacker is responsible for a string of robberies.

The suspect, who Robertos' workers say has patronized their store before, walked into the 24-hour store and ordered a burrito.

He threw coins onto the counter.

When the cook started to prepare the order, the customer then demanded money out of the cash register.

The cook refused, turned away and headed toward the back of the store where the kitchen is located.

The would-be robber followed the cook holding what the victim describes as a large, 2-foot-long knife.

The cook grabbed a knife of his own.

The two men ended up in the back parking lot fighting with the knives.

National City police say that at some point a woman involved herself in the fight by attacking the two men.

She was later arrested on a felony warrant and taken into custody for assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say that the taco shop attacker is the same man who attacked and robbed two people walking the streets in the area early Wednesday morning.

They are following leads to track him down. He did not get away with any money from Roberto's Taco Shop.
