After nearly a week of investigating, sheriff's officials say they have a man in custody in a Solana Beach slaying.
Sherry Chang's body was discovered Monday in a home on Santa Florencia by a concerned co-worker. On Thursday, investigator's said they had arrested the victim's son Bryan Chang in connection with the case.
Chang was taken into custody without incident at his Los Angeles home, according to the sheriff's department, then brought to San Diego County and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. He has been charged with one count of murder.
Authorities said they have not established a motive for the slaying.
On Wednesday, a K-9 unit from the sheriff's department was sent to the crime scene. It was unclear what the deputies were looking for, but they did spend a lot of time searching the area around Chang's residence.
Neighbors said Chang lived alone and that they saw her on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. when she went out for a walk. They also said they saw her arrive on Friday accompanied by another person, but they were unable to provide any other details about Chang's passenger. The neighbors told NBCSanDiego that the co-worker who found the body told them he was shocked that Chang was with anybody on Friday.
Chang was a wealthy yet frugal woman, neighbors told NBCSandiego. They also said she was scheduled to fly to Taiwan to visit her mother and other family members next week.
